Questions about spas
Q: How much do spas cost?
A: They're really quite affordable! They have a range of prices according
to specs of the spas.
Q. What is the electricity consumption?
A. The Spas are rated at 15 kw.
Q. How much will a Spa cost to Run?
A. Less than than 80 pence per day.
Q. How much will the cleaning chemicals cost per month?
A. Less than £5 per month
Q. What electrical supply is required?
A. 16 Amp or 30 Amp depending on the model of spa you have chosen. The
hot tub specification sheet will give the pool's current requirement.
Q. Can I install the electrical supply myself?
A. No. A registered electrician will need to visit and install a circuit
breaker (which is like a fuse) in your electrical consumer unit and
run a cable to near your pool and fit a waterproof plug and socket.
Don't worry about this because it is no more complex or expensive than
installing a outdoor water feature eg. a fountain pump.
Q. What is the weight of a Hot Tub empty?
A. Less than 260 kg
Q. What is the weight of a Hot Tub full?
A. Less than 1300 kg for the 1000 litre capacity models and less than
1800 kg for the 1500 litre larger hot tubs?
Q. What distributed load is required when I build a patio or deck?
A. Min. 320 kg/m2 (66 lb/sq.ft) for the smaller 1000 ltr pools and Min.
450 kg/m2 (92 lb/sq.ft) for the larger 1500 ltr hot tubs
Q. Will the pool fit through a door?
A. It depends; the smaller models may. Exact overall dimensions are given
on the products pages but doorways differ in size.
Q. I do not have a garden access; how do I get the pool into my rear
garden?
A. This may be difficult. Look to the smaller models like the Hydro Deluxe.
Measure your doorways to see if it will fit through the house. If not
you may be able to hire a truck-mounted crane from a plant hire company.
This will not cost more than 10% of a pool so it is worth while.
Q. Do I need to have water connected all the time?
A. No. Just fill from a garden hose and top up as required. We recommend
to change the water at least every 3 months.
Q. Can I install my pool in a conservatory or pool closure?
A. Of course. Please call our sales line for more information.
Q. Can I use the pool immediately after I apply the first dose of chemicals?
A. You may use the pool after waiting for 12 hrs after the first application
of chlorine. It will also need this length of time to heat-up from
cold.
Q. What maintenance is required and how long does it take?
A. Around 20 minutes each week - this is to check water condition and
add chemicals as required. Additionally, half an hour each month will
be needed to clean the filter. Changing the water every 3 months as
we recommend will take you about 2 hours. Every 6 months to a year
the cabinet should be oiled to keep it in good condition.
Q. How long does the filter last?
A. This is dependent on frequency of usage of the pool and the degree
of maintenance to the filter.
Q. How are chemicals introduced to the pool?
A. After testing the water with a tester strip, any relevant chemicals
are simply sprinkled in the pool. You do this by checking the colour
shade on the test strip to see if each of 5 tests fall in to required
shade range. If for example Free Chlorine is too low, chlorine granules
should be added in the specified quantity. To correct the pH level,
dry acid or soda ash can be added. The processes are very easy to follow.
